DO FOOTBALLERS deserve to be sworn at and abused for losing a match? No. But that doesn’t mean they are blameless either.
By now, we’ve all seen the footage of Everton’s players getting a mouthful from their own supporters at Euston Station.
“Imagine another job where it’s normalised to get abuse like this,” said striker Neal Maupay, an unused substitute as the Toffees were trounced 4-0 by Tottenham last weekend. “Hanging around at a train station to scream at men who are trying their best.”
