DEAN HOLDSWORTH admits that of three semi-final losses that Bolton suffered at the start of the new Millennium, the Division One play-off defeat to Ipswich Town hurt the most.
The Trotters had already lost 4-0 over two legs in the Worthington Cup to Tranmere Rovers, while a penalty shoot-out saw Aston Villa advance into the FA Cup final after a goalless draw at Wembley.
But despite only scraping into the play-offs on the last day of the season, Bolton, with Sam Allardyce having taken charge in October, were confident of reaching the promised land.
