JACK Byrne led Oldham to a rout over struggling Northampton, scoring two and setting up another in a performance that manager Richie Wellens said had been coming for quite some time.
The 21-year-old’s assist for Tope Obadeyi added to his two strikes, before goals from Gevaro Nepomuceno and substitute Craig Davies made it a fivestar display.
A poor backpass from Anthony Gerrard allowed Northampton in after just two minutes of the second half, but Sam Foley’s goal turned out to be no more than a consolation.
