DELIGHTED manager John Coleman hailed the character of his troops after Accrington Stanley pulled off the shock of the first round by beating Preston North End.
Stanley won a thriller 3-2, thanks to Billy Kee’s last-gasp winner, and will now host West Bromwich Albion in the second round.
“It was a fantastic game,” said Coleman. “They have good players and so do we. We were more than a handful for them. I think we probably deserved to win and we showed bucketloads of character. This squad will only get better.”
