Peter Hartley has admitted he “didn’t need asking twice” when he received a call in India to help his home-town club stave off the threat of relegation back to the National League.
Lifelong Hartlepool fan Hartley - his surname even shares the first six letters of his favourite team - has since helped Keith Curle’s men secure vital wins and clean sheets against Rochdale and Doncaster following his transfer window switch last month.
