League Two play-off chasers AFC Wimbledon have drafted in striker Rhys Murphy on loan from Oldham until the end of the season.
The 25-year-old had a productive loan spell with Crawley Town earlier in the season where he scored nine goals in 15 league appearances.
AFC Wimbledon manager Neall Ardley told the club’s official website, “With Bayo Akinfenwa suspended and Tom Elliott struggling, we were down to two strikers
“Rhys has had several clubs after him so we thought it was the right time to strike.”
Murphy came through the youth ranks at Arsenal before signing for Dagenham and Redbridge in 2013. After netting 14 goals in 41 appearances for the Daggers, the Irishman signed for Oldham.
In 13 months with The Latics, Murphy has netted three times in 24 appearances.
AFC Wimbledon are currently sitting just inside the League Two play-off places in 7th position. Ardley’s side are without a win in four games however and face a potentially difficult trip to Morecambe tomorrow.
