Morecambe have paid tribute to “top individual” John McMahon after the 59-year-old resigned in the wake of FA betting charges.
A former Shrimps player, McMahon helped guide the club to promotion from League Two through the play-offs as assistant to Derek Adams in the 2020-21 campaign.
He rejoined the club when Adams returned in February 2022 and had remained on the staff ever since. However, a statement released by the FA on Wednesday said Mc-Mahon had been charged with a breach of FA Rule E1 (b) by betting on football matches 251 times between November 2019 and October 20...
