Accrington’s Seamus Conneely commits to new deal

Seamus Conneely has put pen to paper on a new two-and-a-half-year deal with .

The 27-year-old midfielder has been an ever present figure in Stanley's push for promotion to and has started ever game so far this season.

Conneely came through the youth ranks at Galway United before joining in 2011.

However the midfielder did not make an appearance for the and returned to Ireland in 2012 with Sligo .

Conneely impressed during his 59 appearances for Sligo and was rewarded with a return to when Stanley snapped him up in January last year.

Accrington manager told the club's official website, “Seamus is a really good player.

He impressed me at Sligo, he was one of the few players I wanted to bring over from there and he's one I wanted to tie down. We have to start looking at next season and not get into a situation that we've been in previously.

“It has always made me laugh when people ask why we haven't tied players down to longer contracts. It's difficult to get players to commit themselves and financially it's been difficult in the past.

“We want to try to get more of the lads signed up. We've got a good squad here and a couple will leave at the end of the season with Josh Windass and Matt Crooks going but we have a lot of players who have done really well and we want to keep this group together.”

Accrington are currently sitting in sixth place in . They face a trip to Keith 's on Saturday.
