HILL WARY WITH ACE VAUGHAN

KEITH Hill insists he will not gamble with star striker James Vaughan’s fitness to revive Tranmere’s faltering promotion bid.
Vaughan, 32, who has scored 18 goals this season, returned off the bench after a knee injury at Walsall, but Rovers slipped to 1-0 defeat to stretch their winless run to six games.
Hill said: “I’m being guided by James. I asked him when he could go on and we got 20 minutes out of him, but we cannot put all our eggs into James Vaughan’s basket – it’s not fair on him.
“I’ve got to protect James Vaughan.”
