JOEY Barton had no qualms about handing keeper Billy Crellin his Fleetwood debut. The 19-year-old, who was called up to the England Under-20 squad last week, started the Cod Army’s FA Cup tie at Barnet and kept a clean sheet.
Barton said: “I think my chairman was a little nervous starting a 19-year-old in goal, but we’ve got absolute confidence in Bill.
“We felt he was learning the lessons he needed to learn and we need to get him the games to give him the exposure.
“I thought he was absolutely first class in everything he did.”
