GARETH Ainsworth says he didn’t join Shrewsbury Town to manage in League Two - and has vowed to bridge a six-point gulf to safety.
The former Wycombe and QPR boss was appointed on Wednesday and takes over a club rock-bottom of League One following the dismissal of Paul Hurst and subsequent 2-0 reverse at Burton.
“I’ve signed an 18-month contract and I don’t intend to spend any of it in League Two,” said the 51-year-old.
