Peterborough United defender Ronnie Edwards admits it was a ‘surprise’ to have been chosen as the EFL’s Young Player of the Month for January.
The highly-rated 20-year-old caught the eye as Posh went unbeaten throughout the month, registering three wins in four outings to climb the table.
“I’m delighted,” said the centre-back. “It came as a surprise but I’m really happy. Usually, you see a lot of midfielders and goalscorers at the top end of the pitch get these awards, so it’s nice as a defender to be recognised!”
