Max Thompson says he is taking inspiration from Newcastle team-mate Nick Pope as he bids to use his loan spell at Northampton Town as a springboard to the big time.
Rookie goalkeeper Thompson, 19, did not expect to play when he joined the Cobblers on a six-month loan in August.
But an injury to established No.1 Lee Burge opened the door and the young Geordie has seized his chance with a string of impressive performances.
Pope, of course, spent several years on loan at the likes of Harrow, Welling, Aldershot and York before making his name...
