Blackpool's bid for Championship survival has suffered a blow with the news that Gary Madine has been ruled out for the rest of the season.
The former Sheffield Wednesday striker was hurt in the opening seconds of Blackpool’s 2-0 defeat to Bristol City last weekend, and scans have now revealed a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament.
Madine, 32, has scored four goals in 27 games this season and his physical presence is key to the Seasiders’ attacking play.
But he will now require surgery to repair the damage and is likely to be out of action until early 2024.
