Defender Lewis Dunk has signed a new and improved five-year contract at Brighton, keeping him on the South Coast until 2021.
The 24-year-old is a product of the club’s youth system, coming through the ranks and captaining the under-21 side, before making his debut as a 19-year-old at MK Dons in 2010.
He went on loan to Bristol City in 2013, but has since established himself in the heart of the Albion’s defence, playing 132 times for his boyhood club.
Last summer, Dunk was the subject of intense interest from Fulham, and in the most recent transfer window, was linked with a move Premier League sides West Brom and Crystal Palace.
However, after signing a new contract last September when he decided against a move to Craven Cottage, he has now extended his stay with the Seagulls.
Manager Chris Hughton said: “Lewis has been exceptional for me since I arrived at the club.
“His form was excellent last season, and has begun this campaign in the same way. He thoroughly deserves this new contract and I’m really pleased for him, and the club, as he is a key player for us.
“We are delighted we have been able to extend his contract.”
