Leeds United midfielder Lewis Cook picked up the Football League Young Player of the Year award last night after winning plaudits for his brilliant displays this season,.
The 19-year-old has successfully cemented his position in the Leeds first-team and netted his first ever league goal in spectacular fashion against Fulham in February.
Upon receiving his reward Cook told reporters, “I’m immensely proud of myself and I want to thank the club and my family for everything they’ve done.
“It’s like the next step, I guess – I got the Apprentice award last year and now this one this year.
“It’s been a hard season but this makes it a good end.
“People who have won this award before have been outstanding and have gone on to have brilliant careers.
“I just need to keep on trying to improve and getting better.”
The midfielder beat off stern competition from Fulham’s Moussa Dembele and Walsall‘s Rico Henry.
