PRESTON boss Paul Heckingbottom has admitted his side may be running on empty after Tuesday’s epic Carabao Cup victory over Fulham.
A 1-1 draw at Deepdale was followed by the longest penalty shoot-out in the competition’s history as the pair took a combined 34 spot-kicks before Preston eventually triumphed 16-15.
As an evening’s entertainment it was second to none. As preparation for a big Lancashire derby, however, it was less than ideal.
