COVENTRY have been left with a huge hole to fill after midfield lynchpin Gus Hamer completed a £15m switch to Sheffield United.
Hamer, 26, joined the Sky Blues from Dutch side Zwolle in 2020 and has since made 132 appearances, scoring 19 times.
Named player of the year in each of the past two seasons, Hamer was in the final year of his contract and his refusal to sign extended terms attracted interest from several clubs over the summer.
