WHETHER or not Sunderland beat the drop, midfielder Jack Rodwell is set to be hit in the pocket, with his wages slashed by 40 per cent.
The 27-year-old, who has made one league start all season, joined the Black Cats from Manchester City in 2014 for £10m on a contract worth £70,000 per week.
Despite Sunderland’s relegation from the Premier League last term, that salary did not drop.
