THE last thing Bristol Rovers defender James Clarke expected at Bury on Tuesday was a near death experience – but manager Darrell Clarke says he is lucky to be alive.
The 27-year-old was rushed to hospital after an allergic reaction to nuts and was retained overnight after the incident, which could have cost him his life.
“It was a very big scare; life-threatening, ” said manager Clarke.
