Brighton are set to be without winger Solly March for the rest of the season after it was confirmed that the 21-year-old suffered anterior cruciate ligament damage in Saturday’s draw against Derby.
March has made 17 appearances for The Seagulls this season and has played a key role in Brighton’s current unbeaten record this campaign, which has enabled them to sit in 2nd place in the Championship table.
Brighton manager Chris Hughton told the club’s official website “It’s a huge blow for us; Solly has been in exceptional form in recent weeks, was catching the eye with some superb performances and we felt he was getting better with every game he played.
“One positive for Solly, with the advances in that area of sports medicine, is that he will come back from this injury as strong and fit as he has been – if not stronger.”
March will undergo surgery later this week, followed by a period of rest, before beginning his rehabilitation in the New Year.
Hughton‘s side face top of the table Middlesbrough in an exiting match up at the Amex Stadium on Saturday.
