Blackburn Rovers have brought in former Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert as their new manager.
The 46 year old replaces Gary Bowyer who was sacked on 10 November after only winning two of his last ten league games.
Lambert spent almost three years at Villa Park but arguably achieved his greatest successes at Norwich where he guided the Canaries from League One to the Premiership.
He expressed his delight at his new job telling Blackburn’s official club website, “Blackburn Rovers is a club with superb support and fine traditions, being a founding member of both the Football League and the Premier League.
“After a short period out of the game, I feel refreshed and I am really looking forward to the challenge ahead.”
Lambert becomes Rovers’ seventh permanent manager in the last seven years and is expected to bring former West Brom manager Alan Irvine in as his assistant.
Blackburn are currently sitting in 15th place in the Championship and Lambert’s first game in charge will be against local rivals Preston North End at Deepdale on Saturday.
