DAVID Flitcroft insists he is proud of his three years at Port Vale – despite becoming a hate figure for supporters.
Appointed in 2021 by owner Carol Shanahan, below, Flitcroft’s remit encompassed everything from player recruitment to academy football and even managing the ground staff.
Vale won promotion to League One under Darrell Clarke in 2022 but the former Bristol Rovers boss was sacked the following year and, as fortunes dwindled, Flitcroft was held accountable for what were perceived as a succession of poor signings.
