Ipswich lead way against Saints on manic Monday…
It’s set to be a manic Monday in the EFL with 34 matches taking place – including new Championship leaders Ipswich hosting Southampton.
Kieran McKenna’s men grabbed top spot with a 1-0 win at Blackburn on Good Friday and now have the chance to build on that against fourth-placed Saints, who are smarting from conceding a late goal to draw 1-1 at home against Middlesbrough.
Saints boss Russell Martin knows his side need a win at Portman Road to revive their automatic promotion hopes.
“There will still be a lot of twists and turns and some crazy results because the end of the season does some crazy things to teams,” he said. “The game on Monday is perfect for us to bounce back.”
Second-placed Leeds host Hull in the late kick-off, while third-placed Leicester welcome Norwich, in sixth, in a crunch lunchtime clash. West Brom, in fifth, entertain Watford.
In League Two, leaders Stockport are at home to play-off chasing AFC Wimbledon.
In one of two matches on Tuesday, Portsmouth take on Derby in a League One blockbuster.
