Chelsea and Manchester City will battle it out to become Women’s Super League champions on Sunday. With one game left to play, Chelsea currently top the table on 29 points but City are just two points behind the Londoners.
This time last year, Chelsea were in an almost identical position as they lead Liverpool by two points going into the final weekend of the season. However disaster struck and the Blues fell to a 2-1 loss at Manchester City, handing the title to Liverpool on goal difference.
Emma Hayes’ Chelsea face Sunderland at home this time around and will be desperate to make amends for last season’s heartbreak. However, Manchester City, who play Notts County on Sunday, will be waiting in the wings for any potential slip-up from the current league leaders.
To add further spice to the final day of the WSL, Manchester City know that if they lose on Sunday they could potentially be leapfrogged by Arsenal and miss out on the Women’s Champions League next season. Arsenal are currently three points behind City and face Birmingham this weekend.
With everything still to play for at the top of the table it promises to be an unmissable weekend!
