Aston Villa striker Rudy Gestede has left the Midlands club to join Premier League side Middlesbrough.
The Benin international, who was brought to Villa Park by Paul Lambert in 2015, has linked up with Boro and signed a deal until 2020.
Gestede scored 10 goals for the Villains in 51 appearances, including a late headed winner on his debut against Bournemouth on the opening day of last season’s Premier League.
However, this season, the striker has failed to hold down a spot in the starting 11, and has started just three games since Steve Bruce took over at the club.
Nevertheless, Gestede has still managed to notch four goals in 19 appearances so far this season, and has clearly shown enough to impress Aitor Karanka, with the Teeside club rumoured to have paid around £6 million for his services.
Having already played for Villa and Cardiff in the top-flight, this will be Gestede’s third spell in the Premier League, and Boro will be hoping he can provide some much needed competition for Alvaro Negredo.
