Aston Villa’s Gestede joins Middlesbrough

Aston striker Rudy Gestede has left the Midlands club to join side .

The Benin international, who was brought to Villa Park by in 2015, has linked up with and signed a deal until 2020.

Gestede scored 10 goals for the Villains in 51 appearances, including a late headed winner on his debut against on the opening day of last season’s Premier League.

However, this season, the striker has failed to hold down a spot in the starting 11, and has started just three games since Steve took over at the club.

Nevertheless, Gestede has still managed to notch four goals in 19 appearances so far this season, and has clearly shown enough to impress , with the Teeside club rumoured to have paid around £6 million for his services.

Having already played for Villa and in the top-flight, this will be Gestede’s third spell in the Premier League, and Boro will be hoping he can provide some much needed competition for Alvaro Negredo.
