Neil Warnock‘s Cardiff revamp has continued with the capture of striker Marouane Chamakh.
The 32-year-old, who played under new City boss Warnock while at Crystal Palace in the Premier League, has signed a short term deal and becomes Cardiff’s third new signing in 24 hours.
Chamakh joins Canadian winger Junior Hoilett who completed a move to the Bluebirds yesterday, while Sol Bamba arrived at the Welsh club this morning, and all three are available for Friday’s night’s derby clash with Bristol City.
The experienced forward told the club’s website: “I’m so happy to be here and work with the Manager again.
“I worked for him [Neil Warnock] at Crystal Palace before and I’m happy and proud to work with him here at Cardiff City FC.
“Cardiff are a side that should be on top and I think we can improve going forward. I’m looking forward to meeting with my new team-mates and getting started. I can’t wait to score for my new team.”
Chamakh started his career at French side Bordeaux, where he enjoyed a successful spell and scored 14 goals as he fired Les Girondins to the Ligue 1 title in 2009.
His form in France earned him a move to Arsenal, but he failed to truly settle with the Gunners and was sent out on loan to West Ham and Palace.
After leaving the South London side at the end of last season, and failing to convince West Brom manager Tony Pulis he was worth a contract while on trial in the Midlands in the summer, he arrives in the Welsh capital to bolster a struggling Cardiff side.
Manager Neil Warnock said: “We’ve signed Marouane on a short-term deal until January to assess his fitness.
“He’s a versatile player with pedigree and somebody who impressed me during my time at Crystal Palace.”
