While I was in the north-west recently, I took in a fantastic game between Accrington Stanley and Burton Albion.
Both clubs were operating in the Conference (National League) during my Non-League days and I enjoyed some tremendous battles with both over the years. To see them both in League One now is testimony to the leadership and management of both. I had a particular interest in the game as a guest of my former assistant Dino Maamria, who is Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s number two at Burton now, while my former striker Chris Beardsley looks after their fitness.
