Birmingham City midfielder David Davis had had his contract extended with the Midlands club for a further 12 months.
The 25-year-old has made 73 appearances for the Blues since joining from Wolves in August 2014 and has been an impressive performer this season.
The midfielder’s contract was due to expire this summer but Birmingham have decided to exercise a clause to extend the deal for a further year.
As well as representing Wolves and Birmingham, Davis has had loan spells with Darlignton, Walsall, Shrewsbury, Inverness CT and Chesterfield during his career.
It is believed that Davis was told of the club’s decision to extend his contract before Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Wolves at Molineux.
Birmingham are currently sitting in 8th place in the Championship and are four points off the play off positions. They face struggling Fulham at St Andrews on Saturday.
