ASSEM Allam, the owner of Hull City, once explained the disparity between the Premier League and the Championship thus.
In the Premier League, he said, 97 per cent of his club’s income came from TV money and sponsorship, with just three per cent earned through the turnstiles. Yet in the Championship, those figures were roughly reversed.
