Promotion-chasing Coventry have signed Gael Bigirimana on an emergency loan deal until January 3.
The Newcastle United midfielder rejoins the club he left in 2012; attracting interest from his 28 appearances for the Sky Blues to complete a £900,000 switch.
The 22 year-old left his home in Burundi in 2004 as a refugee and was signed for Coventry’s Academy just over a year after arriving in England.
Boss Tony Mowbray was pleased to add depth to the midfield for the busy Christmas period in the fixture list: “I’m looking forward to working with Gael and I’m sure he’ll add a valuable option to our midfield.
“We’re coming into a busy period in the season so it is important we don’t get caught short with injuries and suspensions, and Gael will help us with that.
“A lot of people at the club have only had good things to say about Gael and I’m sure he is looking forward to coming back and making a positive impression on us.”
Bigirimana has reportedly been told he can leave Tyneside, which seems to be the case after being loaned out to Scottish League One side Rangers last season and making the bench only twice for the Magpies.
