Southampton defender Jason McCarthy has joined League Two side Wycombe Wanderers on an initial one-month loan deal.
The defender captained the Saints’ under-21 side to the Premier League Under-21 Cup last season and has made one appearance for the first team.
Wycombe manager Gareth Ainsworth expressed his delight at bringing in the 19 year-old center back, telling the club’s official website, “Our last two games haven’t reached our high standards defensively and he’s a new option who adds competition for us, with Anthony Stewart still missing for another couple of months.
“I’d like to thank Southampton for allowing Jason to move here and we’re looking forward to helping him develop his game during his time with us.”
After suffering play off heartbreak last season Wycombe are currently sitting in 6th place in League Two and travel to Stevenage on Saturday.
McCarthy will wear the number 22 shirt during his loan spell.
