Steve Evans has left Rotherham United after three successful seasons, in which he guided the club from League Two to the Championship. Rotherham stayed up in dramatic fashion last season and are currently sitting in 20th place in the league.
A club statement by the Millers announced that a meeting had taken place this morning between Evans and the Rotherham board, where it was decided that “both parties at the present time wished to head in a different direction.”
Evans’ assistant Paul Raynor has also left the club and first-team coach Eric Black has been placed in temporary charge.
The news will come as a surprise to some Rotherham fans after the team won their last two games and moved out of the relegation zone.
It is unclear whether Eric Black will still be in charge of the Millers for Friday’s game against Burnley.
