Nahki Wells may be earning appreciation from QPR fans for his performances but the striker has yet to send them into raptures by finding the back of the net.
And the loanee has insisted a double-figure goal tally is remains in his grasp a quarter of the way through the season.
“It’s only a matter of time before I get my season up and running goal-wise, because performance-wise I feel as though I’m doing everything I need to do,” Wells told the Royal Gazette‘s Loftcast audio show.
“I’m playing regular football, so, at a minimum, I’m looking at double figures in terms of goals,” he said. “We have to believe we can get into the play-offs and achieve promotion. You have to believe it’s possible.
“I’ve settled in. It’s still been a short period of time, but it feels like I’ve been here a longer. Maybe that’s because they’re have been so many games in short succession.”
Wells was part of a double swoop made by boss Steve McClaren after the team’s sluggish start to the Championship campaign, joining the Loftus Road outfit on loan from Burnley and being followed through the door by Brighton & Hove Albion forward Tomer Hemed.
But eight matches into their newly-formed striker partnership the duo have yielded two goals in total.
The Bermudan international, 28, has plenty of experience in the second tier of English football, scoring 44 goals in 143 league appearances for old club Huddersfield Town which paved the way for a move to Turfmoor.
Similarly, Hemed is well versed in the standard required to consistently bag goals in the Championship, having scored 17 goals in the year Brighton won promotion to the Premier League.
Goal-shy Rangers head to strugglers Ipswich Town on Saturday following the conclusion of the international break. The same fixtures last season finished in a 0-0 draw on Boxing Day.
